Yesterday, we celebrated Princess P’s birthday with our family and friends. I really slacked off and it was not what I wanted but it turned out okay. I’m a procrastinator, and like always, put things off just a little too long. I meant to make cupcakes for the kids and then a pretty tiered cake for the adults but I wimped out. I also wanted to make some cookies for the kids to decorate. I thought that would be a lot of fun but I ended up having Big Daddy make a last minute run to WalMart for some playdough so the kids could play with it and put out a lot of my Wilton cookie cutters. I think the kids had a lot of fun and the adults had fun sitting around and talking and that is all that mattered. I’m happy with how her party turned out. I’m so thankful for everyone that loves my little girl and so glad that they were able to make it to her special day.

When I get notifications on Facebook they usually sit for at least a week before I get around to looking at them. This ‘event’ was no exception. I wish I would have done it sooner, it’s such a neat idea. It’s not too late though and it literally takes just seconds. So take a little time to show some support for the troops that are far away from their friends, families, beds, and all of our comforts.

For Christmas I got an Itouch (although what I really wanted for Christmas was Apple to come out with a CDMA Iphone for Sprint).
Here are some apps I really like and, well, I’m cheap so most are free.
Nike+ You can get a spiffy shoe to use with your Nike +,(which is $19.99 but the app is free) or you can do what I do and tie it in to your laces. It keeps track of your walk/run and will let you know how far you have gone in minutes, miles, or kilometers. Then when you’re done it hooks up to itunes and uploads it to Nike+ for you. On Nike+ you can join groups that set different goals and you all race against each other. i
If you’re a girl and using natural family planning to either get pregnant or not get pregnant. There is an app called Fertility Menstrual Calendar from Fertility Friend. Love it!
The next two are ones that I found only a couple of days ago and are already getting a lot of use.
Daily Burn, seriously I was shocked this was free. You can pay to get more but I can’t imagine needing more. It has an amazing food tracker with most foods already in there for you. There are workouts for you to join and then you can click through them when you are ready to start. There is also a place for your weight and body measurements. If you have an Iphone you can use your camera as a scanner and just scan the barcodes of the food you eat (for 99 cents extra).
The last one is Teach Me Kindergarten. I read about this one on a DAMers blog and had to try it out. It’s really cool and Monkey loves it. The only draw back is that my Itouch keeps disappearing because Monkey is constantly stealing it to play. I did pay 99 cents for it but I probably would have paid much more for it.
Two more that are for the kids are izoo, where the kids can click on the pictures and listen to the animals, and Doodle Buddy, where they get to draw pictures, play with stickers, do a dot to dot, and when they are ready to erase they just shake the itouch like an etch a sketch.
So what are your favorite apps? If you have a blackberry list them too because I also love my blackberry apps.

As I posted a couple of days ago, I’ve been “playing” chore wars with one of my mom boards. I set up a party for anyone interested to join. Click here to join us.

When I was a senior in high school (99) I got out of my boyfriend’s car and heard a kitten meowing. I walked to our side porch and found two very small kittens, so young that their eyes were still closed. The little gray and white one was meowing his heart out and I thought the black one was dead, turned out he wasn’t. Over the next few weeks I woke up every two hours and fed them through a bottle. They were my first babies and my only formula fed babies. I had major mommy guilt when I left a couple of months later for college and a couple of years later when I moved in with my boyfriend, now husband, they came with me.
I didn’t realize they would freak out over the move so much and within about 30 minutes of arriving Kodi, the black one, was stuck in Big Daddy’s couch and Kirby, the gray and white one, was wedge behind an entertainment center. After that they spent a couple of days in a bedroom getting acclimated to the new smells and environment.
Over the last 8 years my cats and Big Daddy have had their share of arguments. But Kirby is big, soft, and cuddly and always won his heart back. Tonight, I picked Kirby up and he made some weird movements and then let out a deep sigh, his last breath.
I was in complete shock I have had animals that have been put to sleep but I’ve never been there. I have never witnessed a death. I’m glad that I was holding him as he took his last breath but wow I’m in complete shock about what happened.
I took a couple of minutes to tell him good bye and compose myself and then I had Big Daddy bring in Monkey. I wasn’t ready for the whole heaven talk so I left the place unnamed. I explained to him about souls and how they leave the body. I told him to us he appeared dead but to Kirby he was alive in a different place where his food and water bowls are always full, his litter box is always clean, and he can scratch on stuff as much as he wants. He got a little chocked up and insisted that Big Daddy bury him, so that’s what we did. Wish us luck with that cause I’m going to kill over if the dogs dig him up.

I don’t know if this is new or new to me but this week I started playing Chore Wars with a group of ladies on my moms board. It’s a way to help motivate you to clean and do those little things around your house that you put off until they become big things. Chores are worth different experience points and they help you advance through the levels. What helps me is that I’m competitive so it motivates me to get to cleaning because I don’t like to be at the bottom of the list in my “party”.

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that our microwave was nasty dirty. I put cleaning it off another couple of weeks until yesterday when I decided it was time to just get it over with. I started scrubbing with a sponge and gunked the sponge up with what can only be described as sludge and scratched the paint off the door(not cool man). I was about to give up when I remembered something I had seen on How clean is your house – if you ever need motivation to get off your butt and clean this show will do it. Anyway, on there they said the easiest way to clean a messy microwave is to get a bowl, put lemon juice in it, and microwave for 5 minutes. I was skeptical but I did it. After the 5 minutes I took the bowl out and wiped and stuff just came right off NO SCRUBBING. Now don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t all pretty and shiny but it was way better then scrubbing that crap off. After about 5 more times there were definitely parts that were sparkling and there are still parts that need to be cleaned some more. For me, I’m a lazy cleaner on my best day and this worked great. I could set the microwave for 5 minutes go do whatever and then come back and wipe and then repeat.
