HI, my name’s Melanie and for the moment I’m 28 years old.  I was born and raised in Dallas, TX, my family has been here since the beginning, seriously. I’m related to the founder of Dallas.   I’m a mom to two small children a boy, Monkey born in August 2005, and a girl, Princess P born in January 2008.  I met Big Daddy at a bowling alley in 2001 and we’ve been together since then and got married in a Denton court house in 2003.

I spent most of my life dancing – ballet, tap, jazz, modern (I don’t think they call it that anymore), and a little bit of everything else.  I’ve danced here, here, here, and here.  I gave it up when I got married though.  I miss it terribly and can sometimes be founding pirouetting in the kitchen or doing some grand jetes through the house.

I was never really sure what I wanted to be when I grew up but I did end up with a BA in Literary Studies from The University of Texas at Dallas.  I never really did anything with the degree since I graduated the semester after Monkey was born but I have worked here, here, here, and here.

When it comes to my birth and parenting I think everyone has their own right to do either however they want to.  As long as you are doing whatever in a loving manner that isn’t dangerous or harmful to your kids then more power to you.  For me, my choice, is out of hospital birth.  One birth center birth and one home birth.  If I had my way they both would have been home births but Big Daddy wan’t quite comfortable with the idea the first time around.  When it comes to my parenting style I lean mostly towards attachment parenting. I’m a homebirthing, cosleeping, baby wearing, extended breastfeeding mommy.  I try to not give my kids to much junk somedays I succeed and somedays I fail miserably.
