extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely(that’s 16) thirsty!
Yeah, that’s what Ethan said on the way home from a birthday party. It took us 45 minutes to get home and 35 of those minutes were spent telling me how thirsty he was, the other 10 were in full blown tantrum because we told him he could wait until we got home.
When we got home I couldn’t resist getting a large bowl out and filling it a quarter of the way with water.
I mean he was extremely x’s 16 thirsty, a cup just wasn’t going to cut it.

We, or I guess I should say I, have been having an issue with Emerson and her clothes. She’s obsessed and one outfit generally isn’t enough. At any given point in the day you are likely to find her in 2 or 3 dresses and 2 or 3 shirts. She accomplished this by pulling every dang thing in her closet down, including the blankets 3 times over the last week. After I threatened to lock her closet she stopped pulling them all done and is down to 1 -2 dresses and 1-2 shirts at a time but she still changes A LOT. Yesterday, I followed her into her room when I knew she was about to change clothes and watched her climb the shelf in her closet (note to self: bolt that shelf to the wall too)and stand up. After that I had to go and grab my camera because I thought it was pretty stinking cute.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I look forward to checking the spam comments because I know I’m going to get a chuckle. The one that has me laughing the hardest I see almost daily.
I bet you wish George Bush was still president.
HA, yeah not even a little, I spent most of 2000-2008 wishing he wasn’t president why would I wish he was president now?

Ethan has been 5 for 15, almost 16 days. How did that happen? How does 5 years go so fast? He is half way to 10, a third of the way to 15, and a quarter of the way to 20. Would it be too much to ask that the next 5 years go a little slower? He is so grown up it shocks me but every morning he still comes and sits in my lap for just a bit. I wonder how long he’ll keep that up, I hope for quiet a while.
Here is the birthday time picture 7:47 am

I guess he was cold???
We mostly celebrated his birthday on the Friday before, who wants to go out and deal with crowds.
Ethan got to do mostly what he wanted to do, which meant sitting around and playing unlimited video games.
We also hit up Nickelrama

I didn’t get many pictures because mommy likes to play the games too. Emerson loves the games even though she isn’t tall enough to actually see what she’s doing. And, do you see what Ethan is doing in the picture? I didn’t notice until I opened it in PS to crop it. He’s reading the instructions. Gah, stop growing up already…
On the 1st we waited and waited for him to get up. He is not an early riser and unfortunately Craig and I both woke up early in anticipation that he would to. Yeah that didn’t happen he didn’t get up until 10ish.
He opened his presents and complained about every dang one except for the buzz, the castle, and legos. We purchased Harry Potter and Toy Story in the wrong formats blah blah blah. I was a little upset by his ‘tude and we had a talk after the video camera was off.
After an afternoon of playing and cake baking for me we headed off to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa.
When it came time to ice the cake I realized I was out of butter flavoring, oopsey. Craig ran to the store to get me some but we ended up just taking the cupcakes instead of both. The cupcakes were really good and I’ll have to post that recipe later. We did have cake and blow out candles at our house on the 2nd. The cupcakes did suffer a slight accident… when we got to my mom and dad’s house I started to drop my camera and jerked to grab it and in the process all of the cupcakes shifted and fell over. Boo! But really they were still delicious, I’m still drooling over the icing.

I’m trying out a new website it’s called Goal For It . So far I really like it, only time will tell if I’ll actually use it or not. I originally found it through a homeschool yahoo group in an email about chore charts for kids. I made one for Ethan on Goal For It and I really liked it but it was LOOOONNNNGGGG. So I decided to remove the daily tasks from it and make a to do list of sorts for him. So now his goal for it chart has things on it like….
- don’t raise my voice
- listen
- share
- no hitting
- no whining
much smaller and I think not so scary for a 5 year old to look at. Now I just need to go and assign point values, so he can earn prizes from Craig and I.
So here is the to do list I made for him.

I have spent months, years researching and planning for this moment. I’ve been so busy doing that, that it is just now sinking in that my baby boy is starting kindergarten this year. Yes, he will be at home, since we are homeschooling but it doesn’t change the fact that he is school aged now. I got a little, okay a lot, teary eyed thinking about that earlier.

We finally made it to the still pretty new Giants of the Savanna at the Dallas Zoo. We went to a members only event with my mom and dad and sister’s family. We started out with a nice complimentary breakfast which we ended a little early to watch the lionesses eating a large bone. It was amazing to see them so up close. All three of the girls were right up at the glass for a little while.
We also checked out the cheetah’s who we got to see up close and personal as well. I think that is probably the best part about the Giants of the Savanna. Everything is big and open and you can get very close to the animals (through thick glass). One of the cheetah’s came down and picked up a fur that had been placed next to the window. It then looked up at the people opposite the glass from him/her and growled. It was so cool. I wish I would have gotten a picture of it.
After that we feed the giraffes and then checked out the elephants. Emerson did not think it was very fun to have the giraffe that close and freaked out all the other kids had lots of fun overfeeding, I’m sure, the only giraffe who would come and eat.
The best part though was our keeper encounter with the two male lions.
They are still babies only about 15 months old. They weight 250 lbs and will get up to 450lbs. They demonstrated their tricks for us.
Sitting, laying down, scooting up to the gate to get a shot in the thigh, and standing up!!
