    Best comeback ever

Ethan is young enough, I guess, that people don’t really ask him about school when we are out and about. I’m sure my day is coming and I hope that I’m as quick witted as a woman in one of my homeschool groups. […]I only teach the basics: How to survive a zombie invasion, ways to take out a ninja, and how to run a successful pirate ship. I have been laughing about that since I read it.

    Week 4 in review

Last week we completed MBTP lessons 5, 6, 7, and 8 and Right Start Math lessons 8 and 9. We are finishing up our study about environments and habitats. Ethan is pretty into it and likes to get the Animal Habitats book out and just flip through it. I’m still not to keen on the math but Ethan gets it and it seems to be working for him. I’m not a math person so maybe I wouldn’t be happy with any math that we did, who knows.

Week 2 and 3 in review

Ethan worked on the letters h, m, and j and the numbers 0-6 with MBTP and numbers that start on the left for RSM 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7. In MBTP we finished talking about our home as an environment and moved on to habitats. He also completed Headsprout Early Reading during week 2. He was very excited to go and get the Jokers Fun House to go with his Batman Imaginext toys, he slept with it the first night it was very sweet.

    Week 1 in review

We have completed the first week of kindergarten. And if you are anything like Craig, yes I do realize it is summer. I think it makes more sense to go ahead and start now so when the weather is tolerable we will be able to go outside and play. We completed Concept 1 Unit 1 Lessons 1-3 (Lesson 3 is a 2 day lesson and we haven’t done it yet), and Lesson 1 of RightStart Math. So far, it has not taken as long as I expected we are knocking it out in about an hour. We’ve only done Lesson one on RSM because I have managed to misplace the…

    I will survive

This was in one of my Google Alerts for Homeschool. I thought it was great and in a couple of months I might need to pull it out again to remind myself that we can in fact do this!!

    Day 1

We started Little Otter Science today. I’m not sure what we will do but after today I’m pretty sure Ethan will want to probably do the whole weeks work in one day. At least, for right now since it is all we are doing. We read : And then, we did a little experiment from Play and Find Out About the Human Body. It did not go as it was supposed to but Ethan still had fun with it.

    First day of egg geodes

I saw these on a fellow homeschool mama’s blog and thought they looked like fun.  I’m hoping that they work because I’m not trying it again.  The egg prep was a total pain in the ass- you have to pull the egg membrane out and it was not easy. The black ones are with sugar, the purple kosher salt, the bluish ones are with table salt, and the brown is borax.
