The day of Ethan’s Super Bowl(they didn’t win) was pretty eventful for Ethan. He almost poked his eye out tripping at Oshkosh and then lost his first tooth.
We went into Oshkosh to get Emerson a jacket, she didn’t want one (although she did end up getting one) so I asked Ethan to go and look at clothes. He went over to the boys side of the store but wasn’t exactly happy about it. He was mopping and pouting and ended up tripping and slamming his face into a metal hook protruding from the wall. It caught him at his cheek and went up to his eyebrow. Thank goodness for the body’s reaction to squint or he would have had a very different ending.
When we’re out at the outlet there aren’t very many places to eat so we usually stop at the IHop. He was eatting his pancakes and stopped and with a very weird expression on his face said “I think my tooth’s ready to come out” He opened his mouth and he was right his tooth was ready cause it was just laying there. It has been about 3 weeks and his adult tooth is starting to come in. His baby tooth next to it is now loose. I guess it’s time to look into how much the tooth fairy leaves for second teeth.
I really neglected to blog about Emerson turning 3and I feel really bad about it so the next couple of posts will be about her.
I don’t know how my sweet little girl, my baby, is already 3. We made it through the 2s with little incident, so I guess it is only fair that the 3’s are hitting us hard. She has become defiant and outspoken, funny and artistic.
She loves to dress up and sing songs into her Hello Kitty microphone. She plays mommy to her baby dolls and wizards, Mario and Luigi, and guns with her brother. Just when I think she couldn’t be any girlier she runs through the room with a camoflouge hat on, a gun in her hand, or laughs at farts.
When Ethan and I sit down to work on school for the day she demands school work for herself. She loves to be read to and always wants to know what things say, even the signs on the highway.
She is entering her 3rd year of her love affair with Tinkerbell and has now also discovered Dora the Explorer.
She’s completely day time potty trained and doesn’t sleep in our room anymore. I guess you could say the kids are cosleeping or bedsharing now.
So for a little while I have been a little concerned with Emerson’s speech and have worried that she is behind. I had chalked it up to the fact that she is so completely and utterly focused on moving (she is a crawling pro now and it working on standing up and holding on with only one hand and trying to take steps). Well yesterday while I was making dinner Craig said she said da da and today when he got home from work she looked him right in the face and said dada. Picture my jaw hitting the floor. I am convinced that she was really calling him da da.
For years I have been looking at squiggly lines left to guess what Ethan’s drawn and usually resort to “Tell me about your picture, baby” but not yesterday. Yesterday, Ethan said I’m going to draw a sun and then drew a circle with lines coming off of it. I couldn’t believe it.
On another note while I was trying to put Emerson down for a nap Mr. Do It Himself got chicken nuggets out of the freezer and started eating them. He came in and said “Mama, I like them cold”. UMH, eww gross!! I called the company and they assured me that they were made out of already cooked chicken so I feel better.
